At I/O Google
has displayed its vision for interacting well with technology. Using chattier
as its assistant, it uses a more of human voice to answer language queries
found in various Google products. According to Latest Technology News, Google
plans for improvements to Android and other services. Listed below are some of
the 10 biggest announcements.
1. A new VR platform
Daydream is the
new virtual reality program. It is built in a way that it will not compete with
the Oculus Rift and other PC powered HTC Vive. It is very powerful compared to
Cardboard and is a big step towards the call to advance VR from its initial
stages. Daydream provides the users with an entire ecosystem that they can play
around with. Special VR versions have been created by Google on apps like
street view, Google photos and Google play store. The main limitation of the
daydream is that it only works on new phones with special sensors on their
screens.
2. Google has made a VR headset
The smartphone
powered VR phone has a design similar to that of the cordless Oculus Rift. This
is even interesting because Google’s approach to VR is similar to the approach
that it used in Android. Google provides companies with app and software
backbone while pointing them in a direction on the hardware side. The phones
are made in the form of Nexus devices.
3. Allo App
The new Al-
powered foray is being made into messaging with Allo. One is required to first
install the app, use your phone number to sign up and then you can connect it
with the Google account. Message features like custom stickers, emoji are
present. In the case of problems, you can call the assistant for information
and replies will be generated automatically. All messages in Allo are encrypted
and user can opt to use the incognito mode of it.
4. Duo Messaging App
Since one
messenger is not enough, announcement of another app (Duo) has followed the
announcement of Allo. It is dedicated towards video chatting. It is very simple
to use; once you open it, you will be presented with the selfie- cam preview of
your own video. When you call, the person on the other end will see the preview
even before he answers.
5. Google Home
According to Latest Technology News, the company has announced a home assistant that is
called Google home. This is a small speaker that is fitted with listening
microphones which integrate into a range of services. It answers questions and
also executes commands. The device is a small cylinder that is rounded with a speaker
at the base.
6. Google began the I/O with a demonstration of the
next generation Google Assistant
This is more of
a chat app compared to the current search based Google. The assistant has the
ability to parse content easily like answering what specifically should be
brought to the kids in the evening. With this, computing will be an ambient
experience extending beyond devices.
7. Android N is better, smarter and faster
The developers’
preview of the Android N on March showed the quick setting buttons, the split-
screen multitasking and new emoji set. The OS, however, will not be out of beta
until late summer. Google has however released the new beta showing the
operating system in detail. The features in it include control of the
notification size. The battery optimization makes it a better gaming platform.
The new Vulkan API enables the user to control the GPU directly for sharper 3D
pictures.
8. Android wear 2.0 is not very different from the one
released in 2014
Changes,
however, have been made to it to increase the experience. It helps the auto
watch to be more autonomous. Watches equipped with this new version will rely
less on cellular connections and smartphones.
9. New Tracking App
Google has built
a tracking app that enables driver to see accidents alarms and speed trap
warnings on time. Unlike the previous versions that used USB connection, the
new Auto uses Wi-Fi connections. With android N, the automakers can develop own
unique flavors of the same.
10. Android Instant App
Most companies
are striving to improve their browsing experience on phones, by circumventing
open web. Google has announced the new app called the Android Instant App. Once
the BuzzFeed link is clicked, the Google play grabs the part of the app that it
needs and consequently plays a video.
Messaging, VR,
and smart assistants are the hottest technological areas today. The
announcements made by Google showed that it took big swing on all of them.
Closer analysis of the products is needed before determining whether they will be
successful.
